Bio:

I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics from The University of South Dakota in the fall of 2018 under the guidance of Professor Michael Hill. I also earned a minor in Art History, and a certificate in Sculpture. During my undergraduate studies, I fell in love with atmospheric firing methods. I primarily studied wood-firing and soda-firing processes, along with investigating clay materials and forms within these atmospheres. After completing my undergrad, I began working as a Gallery Assistant for University Art Galleries at the University of South Dakota. This work influence my artistic career and making process in many incredible ways. Currently I am based in SE South Dakota, where I love exploring the prairie, engaging in outdoor recreation, and creating art in my studio. I consider myself to be primarily a ceramics artist, but have most recently been exploring mixed media artwork, via experimentation with textiles, paint, and foraged materials.

Artist Statement:

My work evokes a rugged sense of the natural world, inspired by geologic rock, land formations, effects of the passage of time, and personal experiences. In many ways, I view my work as a reflection of self, personality, and values.
